Tours for ONE day in Rome

Hello everyone,

In early December we are cruising and will stop in Rome for only one day. We would like to see the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain, and the Vatican museum. I know this is a lot to do in a short period of time, but is there a tour that would accommodate all of this and still get us back to the boat?

Thanks for any help.

You can buy your own timed entry ticket to the Colosseum: https://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm

Then either metro/walk to Trevi or take an Uber or taxi from Colosseum.

You can book your own timed entry into the Vatican Museums: https://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do

This would definitely not be my recommended way to see Rome. With only a few hours in a city dripping with centuries of history - you only have time to see a minimal scratch of the service. You'll have to pick and choose which of your activities is most important to you.

A tour with Miles & Miles company would be pricey, but an easy way to fit this in your day. We took a half-day tour with this company and saw so many things on our first full day in Rome. They offer a RS discount.

Also, you should be aware that the Vatican Museum houses a HUGE number of works of art, and that the Sistine Chapel (the sight that most visitors really want to see) is located at the very end of the Museum, and that you exit the museum from the Chapel. It's a long slog, although in December it should be less uncomfortable with fewer visitors.

Also, don't forget that the days are pretty short in December, cutting in on your sightseeing time.

We used this tour because a few in our group had trouble walking. It is however perfect for cruisers who don't have a lot of time in the city.
You will see a good portion of Rome but you won't go inside any site.
The guides are very informative and lots of fun.
If you can get together with two more couples it's very affordable.

You will be on a tight time line with a cruise. I think it may be better to do something more relaxing like stroll from Sopra Di Minerva - to Pantheon - to Piazza Navona and visit some of the churches along the way. I would skip Vatican Museum if I only had a brief day in Rome. It's very crowded and can be exhausting. Think about what type of experience you want to have versus pushing for a couple of tourist biggies.
My favorite museum in Rome is the Borghese.

We booked our Rome day tour via https://www.vaticancitytours.it/, the tour started at 9.00 am and finished around 5.00pm.

We visited the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, and Sistine Chapel and the experience was awesome!

I'm sure you will still have time to get back to the boat.
