Hello,
My husband and I will be traveling to Italy this year, and need to apply for a Visa in Detroit.
Do we need to book two separate visa appointments to submit our applications or can we do it in the same appointment?
Regards,
Pragya
I think if you call the visa office in Detroit, they can answer your question.
Thank you. I did try that, but they were unable to answer on the phone.
I also emailed their office, but have not heard back from them. So I thought I would try asking here and see if anyone had an experience in this regard, and would be willing to share it, as it would help us book an appointment sooner.
I'd really appreciate it. :)
Pragya,
Most people on this forum are American citizens and do not need a visa to visit Europe, so you may not get the answer you need. I suggest that you google "visa application to xxx (the country you will apply for)". Often times you will see links for travel agencies or companies that help people obtain visas. They might have a FAQ that's more helpful to you. Alternatively, you could try calling up a few of the companies and see if you can get an answer that way. Good luck!

I can tell you that when we applied for our Elective Residence Visas in San Francisco a few years ago, I had trouble making two appointments simultaneously and the website was very clear that each person had to have an appointment. I made two appointments on two different days (they only took one person per day in their system for the type of visa we needed!). I, too, emailed and received no response. So I pulled out the stops: We had a friend in Rome at the time who had been an Italian immigration executive and he made the Consulate take us both. I carried his email approval with me and lucky I did because when we both appeared at the appointment time they said only one of us could attend. They did relent only because of the intervention of the Roman official.
So, I would make two appointments as close together as possible using the online system, then both show up and see if they will take you together. You can then cancel the second appointment (as I did ours) if needed. Or keep it, if needed.
Thanks very much Laurel. This is really helpful! :)
We will try and do the same. We do not have any friends in Italy, but hopefully the Consulate will see reason and let us both in on the same slot.
Thank you all for your time and attention to this matter.
Regards,
Pragya
