Touring Italy and then Zurich

Hi Friends,
Me and my wife, both Sr, Citizens, and are from India. We wish to travel Rome and Zurich in August. We have no idea as to how many days we should spend there. On my novice research, I find 5-6 days in Italy (Rome, Florence with Pisa and Venice) and then proceed to Zurich by coach or by train and spend there 2-3 days. Is it worth? Any changes are welcome.
We plan to land at Rome Airport from where our journey starts. A guided tour would be most suitable for us. Could anyone be of any help on my intending tour?
How much would it cost with 3* hotels and the site seeing?
Thanks,
Bikram

Expecting to visit all of these places in little more than a week is completely unrealistic. You've allowed no time for transportation between each of these cities. And you would need multiple days in each place for even the most superficial exploration of what each place has to offer. Zurich is definitely an outlier. What do you want to see there? There are much more interesting places in Switzerland to visit.

You are planning a very last minute trip. This is the most crowded time of the year to visit. Also the hottest, but since you are in India, I'll assume that that isn't a factor for you. Hotels will have been booked up long before now. Look at sites like booking.com or hotels.com. com for hotels in your preferred price range. You can filter for price, location, and amenities.

Practically, you need to decide whether to visit all of these places, in which case you'll need to triple the length of your vacation. Or pick one or 2 cities, close to each other (like Rome and Florence). I would also strongly recommend that you get a good guidebook, like the RS Italy book, and read through it before committing yourself. Finding a bus tour to all of these places, including Zurich, with your time constraints, is IMO unlikely.
