I will be part of the April 17th Rick Steves Southern Italy tour. There is a free day in Sorrento which I have visited previously. I would like to ferry to Ischia and tour the island by land not by boat. I see there are taxi services available. Any advise on seeing Ischia for a day?

It’s about a 2 hour ferry ride from Sorrento to Ischia. Sorrento-Capri 30 min. Capri-Ischia 1H30min.
First ferry leaves at 9:40. Last return @ 16:40. Is that amount of time going to be worth the short amount of time on Ischia?
Cost for RT ticket around 40€.
There are busses that can take you around the island.

I have not been to Ischia yet. I'm hoping to go in 4 weeks. Ischiareview.com has lots of information on ischia. You can email them for advice and they can set up a land tour for you. I can't comment on their quality of tours since I haven't used them for that but they are recommended for all things Ischia on other web sites, TripAdvisor etc.
Maybe spend the night in Ischia.
