Tour with Romecabs

We are considering a tour with RomeCabs, which has been recommended here a number of times. We have a some concerns and are wondering if we should worry.

1) Their fleet is mostly minivans, which don't sound like they would be especially comfortable for a multi-hour ride with two people.

"OUR TOURING VEHICLES: The deluxe vehicles we provide are recent models Opel Vivaro (or similar), Mercedes Viano, Mercedes Vito, Mercedes Sprinter, and Mercedes Sedan E Class. We cannot promise a particular type, model, or size vehicle other than a vehicle suitable to accommodate the number of passengers."

Here are pictures of most of those from another transport company's fleet

2) Their terms and conditions place a lot of restrictions on posting negative reviews. terms

Do these sound like valid concerns? For the tour we want on the date we want they seem to be the only company with current availability (a number of others are sold out), at least not without paying hundreds of euros more than they charge (and the others may have similar issues).

I have used RomeCabs on numerous occasions, and have always been very satisfied with their drivers, service and vehicles.

In regard to posting negative reviews, they request that you first contact them to resolve any issue. As for their threat of legal action, one can question how enforceable it is - are they going to have you extradited from the US?

Any negative post published without first being brought to the attention to Rome Cabs Management is considered a complete breach of contract, and therefore the poster will be held legally liable for any damage that occurs from the post. You also agree that any publicly made complaints must also be accompanied by reliable proof that Rome Cabs can request to be examined for accuracy. Any negative reviews without adequate proof of service being reviewed and the issues described in the review will be in direct breach of contract with legal consequences. Any complaints about service that is not specifically included on this website and/or in email correspondences are in breach of contract.

I would prefer not to do business with a company requiring me to agree to those restrictions, no matter how many glowing reviews it has. It wouldn't be easy to prove a driver drove in an unsafe manner, made a bunch of racist or sexist comments, etc. (not that I think their drivers would do those things), so I don't know how you could post a complaint about something like that without violating the contract.

Oddly, their website had been showing no availability until yesterday, at which point we tried to book. Alas, this morning they emailed that they had no availability. They then recommended https://www.rome-chauffeur.com/ which has a website, descriptions and pricing that is essentially identical to romecabs, although it does not list vehicle types, just "European deluxe vehicles (Mercedes, Opel, Audi)" and does not have the social media restrictions.

Romecabs wrote that our day near the end of October "coincides with an overwhelmingly busy period late October through early November that we are heavily booked". I hope that's not true of Rome generally or Milan.

We've used Rome Cabs many times and have never had any complaints at all. Based on those experiences, we would not hesitate to use the company they suggested.

Nov. 1 is All Saint's Day - supposedly a big holiday in Italy - can the holiday be a factor?

For those who've used RomeCabs (or other such companies), did they send something bigger than a normal car? If so, was it comfortable? As mentioned, we're concerned we could get some minivan type vehicle that wouldn't be as comfortable as a sedan (presuming anyone actually confirms with us).

Could be that the more usual October crowds are being extended by All Saints Day.

Many of the things we want to see have capacity controlled tickets, so that might help.

Looks like competing companies have tried to steal business by posting untrue negative reviews in the past. That's exactly how this reads.

For those who've used RomeCabs (or other such companies)...

Every time the two of us have used Rome Cabs (or any other car service) they have used full sized Mercedes sedans. I might be wrong, but I don't think they would use a more expensive to operate van type vehicle for just two people.

My wife and I were once picked up by Mercedes van from RomeCabs at FCO. Leather seats, plenty of room, cold A/C, easy on my old knees to get in and out. Personally, I'd prefer the van over the sedan.
