Tour to Italy

Hello,

I m planning to visit Italy during first week of November and heard that the weather is wet during that month. I also heard that it’s chilled during November which is not a problem to me. I m only worried about the rain.

My plan:
1. 4th and 5th November- Venice
2. 06th and 07th November- Rome
3. 08th and 09th November- Florence

Any suggestions would be of great help

Thanks!

If this is your first trip to Italy, my suggestion would be that you divide your time between two of those cities rather than three. Every time you change hotels you're going to lose at least half a day of sightseeing time, so you don't have two days in Rome and Florence, but rather 1-1/2 at most. And if Venice is where you land after an overnight flight across the Atlantic, you don't have two days there, either, because you may well be basically non-functional on November 4th.

I agree with acraven. you do not have many total days and you will see more with two destinations.

And I agree with both posters above: 3 cities is too many for 6 days. As pointed out, you'll lose time with every location change + be too jet-lagged to enjoy your first day on the ground if you'll be traveling from a long distance away.

I'd cut it down to just two, flying into one and out of the other. Where will you becoming from and where will you be going after Italy?

Rain is what it is. There's not much you can do to control the weather except dress for it and have a backup list of indoor attractions to duck into should it be really wet.

Is this the entirety of your trip, or part of a larger/longer vacation?

Agree with prior posts, 'pick 2'.

Even the order you list is bad due to the seemingly unnecessary back tracking you have created.

If rain is a major concern, I'd go with Rome and Florence during that time. Venice does see flooding.

It would help to have a few more details. For example, where are you flying into and out of? Also have you used trains and other public transit in Italy before?

I agree with the others that visiting three cities in six days is a bit "ambitious". Keep in mind that each change of location will require at least half a day, so two nights in a city only provides a bit more than a day for sightseeing.

Pack along an umbrella and/or some rain gear and you'll be fine.

We actually prefer to be in Italy in November (and December) and luckily have had very little rain. However, it can be quite humid in Venice and so it feels cold and damp. The fog is beautiful! It's better not to wear cotton because it absorbs moisture and remember that your clothes and shoes will take longer to dry.

The high water in Venice is kind of fun and interesting, not something to try to avoid by not going to Venice at all. There are maps that show you where the water is in the streets --- it's not everywhere. Often, just the very lowest places are flooded. But don't stay on the ground floor of an apartment building or hotel.
