Four of us will be in Rome Sept. 16-19 and would like a tour of the Vatican. I have read Ricks' book and surfed the internet as best as I can but it is a bit overwhelming. Everything else on our trip has been easy to navigate. However, I went to the official Vatican site today to reserve tickets and from what I can tell, there are no openings for guided tours on these days. Any suggestions of other tour guides or if I am looking in the wrong spot? Thanks for the help.
I found the Walks of Italy site, and they offer an early opening to see the sights, without the enormous crowds.
My husband and I decided that we will wait until our next trip to Italy to do this, as the cost was a bit more than we wanted to spend on this trip.
They also offer a Rick Steves discount. I had to email them to get the code, I think it was 10%.
Enjoy!
You checked a few days too early. Wait a few days for the date you need to open up for reservations. I believe they only book 60 days (or so) in advance. This is the right spot...http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?action=booking
Thank you. I just realized that I was right before the 60 day limit. :)
Looks like you're on the right track.
