I bought combined tickets for the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill on the official website, along with a tour of the Colosseum, underground and third ring. What options would there be for a separate tour of the Forum and Palatine Hill? There wasn't a tour on the official website. Most of the tours I'm looking at now also include the Colosseum.

There is an official tour of the forum but those only take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can always rent an audio guide or use a good guide book if you can't find a guide to take you to just those two sites. Most guides will do all three.

I can highly recommend Sonia Tavoletta, [email protected]. She did a great job on the Palatino and Forum for us. Charge by the hour, not the person. She was recommended to me by Francesca Caruso who many on the helpline know. .

There is a "hut" (for lack of a better word) near the end of the Forum nearest the Colosseum - at least it was still there when I went a few years ago. You can buy tickets there for a tour with an archaeologist to tour both the Forum and/or Palatine Hill. You really do need someone to interpret what you are seeing as so much of it has been altered over the centuries and either has more modern structures built over or in it, or is such a ruin that you can't tell by looking at it what it once was.
