Does anyone know if it's possible to get a tour of the Ferrari factory in Maranello without actually owning one?
Last year I tried to find a way to tour the factory as a surprise for my husband. My conclusion, it's pretty near impossible unless the dealer you bought your Ferrari from sets it up.
The good news - we spent the night in Maranello and went to the museum. My husband loved seeing (and hearing) all the Ferraris driving around town and we both loved the museum.
Jan:
There is no access to the factory per se. We did tour the Ferrari museum - WOW!
I am not a car guy but I really enjoyed it. Automobiles as art. Lots of fun. I'd estimate that we were there for about 1.5 - 2 hours. The gift shop is chock full of expensive Ferrari trinkets.
The other neat part is seeing lots of Ferraris on the streets of Maranello.
Also, we stayed close by in the little village of Castelvetro. The inn we stayed at is called Locanda del Fuedo. What a wonderful place to stay. It is a small place - very reasonably priced. All the rooms are suites and the food is out of this world. I am still longing for more of the spinach cakes with parmesan cream sauce and balsamic vinegar.
Have fun.
Jan,
I agree, it is still worth it to visit the museum. We had an amazing time. Hope you will also have time to explore the rest of the region, this trip report on Parma and Modena may give you some
ideas
We went to the museume in April 09. Entrance fee was 12 euro. It was off of the beaten path so you may need to have your own transportation to get there. Official website is: www.galleriaferrari.com. From a woman's point of view, it was a great place to pick up Italian men (if you can get them to look at you and not the cars). I think women were less than 10% of the visitors on the day we were there.
Summarizing what the above have said:
Your question: Does anyone know if it's possible to get a tour of the Ferrari factory in Maranello without actually owning one?
Answer: The answer to your direct question is "no." At least no one here has been successful, so far, in getting a tour of the factory, and if someone had I think we'd have heard the bragging.
People posting here have been able to get a tour of the museum.
To get a tour of the factory, apparently you have to buy a Ferrari, and then your dealer can set it up for you. We'll have to wait for Rick to buy a Ferrari and report back to us on this.

You cant do the Ferrari factory but you can do the Maserati factory in Modena. Check with the local Maserati dealer in New York and he/she can set it up for you.
While we were in Florence, late September, the Ferrari Shop closed off some streets near the Via Degli Strozzi and put on a car show with each car on its own red carpet. They had an F40 and an Enzo and about seven others. The next day, near every available space surrounding the Ferrari Shop had a privately owned Lamborghini parked.
