Tour Italy October2024

We have 16 days to spend on our trip. We are arriving in London at 1pm on 10/1. We want to tour London, Paris, Venice, Florence, Salerno and Rome. Is this a feasable itinerary? How many days in each city? We are cruising out of Rome on 10/17. How many nights should we spend in each city? Should I drop one from our itinerary and if so, which city?

I make a list of what I want to see in each place to determine number of days needed.
With London a given, I would eliminate Paris to give you the bare minimum needed for all the others.

Morning,
Six different locations in 16 days? I would highly advise against this itinerary.

With only 16 days, I'd skip Paris completely. Save it for another time. Since you've included the Big 3 in Italy, I'm going to assume you haven't been there before. In which case, just stick to London, and Italy. Those 4 places will fill up your time, and you will wish you had more. Any special reason you included Salerno in this trip?

You arrive at 1 p.m. on Oct. 1st. By the time you get through immigration and get to your hotel, that day will be pretty well used used up. Especially if you're tired, sleepy, and jet lagged. Oct. 17 you have to get to the Rome cruise port (which isn't in Rome, but some distance away) so that day is also used up. That really gives you only 15 full days.

Since you are landing in London and cruising from Rome, those two cities are no brainers. But I suggest that you confine yourself to just one other city. Why? Every time you change locations you'll lose at least one half and usually three quarters of the day in transit. It isn't just the travel time itself, but the checking out, getting to the train station or airport, and then some waiting to actually depart. Upon arrival you still have to travel to the new hotel, check in, and settle in.

If you try to visit six places in 15 days, I'm afraid all the memories you'll have will be of train stations, cab rides, and hotel lobbies.

Personally I'd opt for Venice as the third city because it's tremendously unique and I love it. But that choice should be dictated by your interest.

Really don't meant to rain on your parade, just trying to offer food for thought based on many trips to Europe.

London,Venice, Florence, Rome.

Those 4 will keep you well occupied.

Any more and it looks like you’re competing in the “Amazing Race “ and not on a vacation.

How you allot the days depends on your personal preferences

We've been to London, Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome.

You could do London -->Paris-->Rome or London--> Venice --> Rome or London-->Florence --> Rome. Keep in mind each move will cost you a day. That leaves you with roughly 4 days in each city. That's barely enough time for each.

Where will you be cruising to?
