My husband and I and 13 year old granddaughter will be in Rome for 4 nights and Venice 3 nights, in early April. We are looking for specific ideas for activities geared to a bright, curious young teenager. A tour guide named Marta Marsili was recommended to us for Rome, but we have not heard back from our inquiries. Dies anyone know if she is still in business? We would be interested in tours of the Vatican and Colliseum , and perhaps a cooking class. In Venice we were thinking of Row Venice ( will it be too cold at that time?) , and also the secret itineraries tour in Venice. Any suggestions very welcome.
If your granddaughter likes cats, this could be fun: http://www.romancats.com/torreargentina/en/contact.php
Try Sonia Tavoletta, a terrific tour guide for all you desire in Rome. [email protected]. We were delighted, as have been friends and family we've recommended to Sonia.
Rowvenice is a fine idea. Also, perhaps your granddaughter would like to make Venetian masks (http://www.camacana.com).
I took my family to Venice for 3 days last June and my daughters (11 yo & 14 yo) just loved it.
I hired a liceansed private tour guide by the name of Fiona Giusto. Fiona was just wonderful and spoke perfect English. I wrote a review with photos on Tripadvisor about Fiona that goes into more details.
Look for the title "Our new family friend in Venice"

Here is Fiona's web site: www.venicetours.it ,which is a great place to look at tour options.
