Traveling in March to Rome, Naples, and the Amalfi coast with three teenagers (12,14,17). Looking for a good tour guide that is good with teens for the Vatican and Forum. We will also be taking a day trip to Pompeii from Naples and would appreciate any suggestions on a tour guide recommendations.
By Vatican do you mean the Basilica of St Peter, or the Museums, or both? Do you want to get into the Sistine Chapel when fewer people are there or have detailed guiding throughout the Museums?
March starts in a couple of days. When's the trip, Summer?
I’ve used Joe Banana Limos several times. I highly recommend them. Don’t let the “Limo” scare you as they are very reasonable lol.
We used walks of Italy for both those tours on previous trips. We are taking our teens in April we booked “the tour guy” for the Colosseum and Forum and walks of Italy again for Vatican.
If you want a private tour, I doubt you could do better than Francesca Caruso. She's in Rick's books.
Thank you everyone! We will be traveling March 9-23, Rome 18-21.
I want a guide for the Basilica, grounds, and Museum.
In the Museums they offer guides from the Museums who offer walks. That's if you don't want early or late admission to try to see the Sistine Chapel when it is less crowded. It wasn't clear what time your reservation is for.
I don't know any that are particularly aimed at teens, but you may ask that you not go to the secret rooms.
I've never seen any tours inside Saint Peters but there must be some.
As far as the few streets of Vatican City, again I don't know of any guided tour. You may be too late to get tickets for the dome and the gardens, which are on separate tickets from the Museums - you could have a look if that interests the teens. It sounds like you won't really have time for that.
