I have seen so many different postings regarding a wide variety of tour guides/companies to use in Rome, for Ancient Rome, as well as the Vatican. Can anyone help me figure out how to select someone to assist us w/ the Coliseum and the Vatican??
Thanks,
Terry
Hi Terry, not sure when you plan on being in Rome, but Ron in Rome was WONDERFUL, www.roninrome.com. He is pretty booked but did have some free dates in the upcoming weeks/months. He made ancient Rome come alive and he was so much more than a guide. He helped us out with little things like shortcuts to trains, where's the best shopping, entertainment, gelato, etc. Very personable and personalized the tour so each family member got what they wanted. I'd book him the first day of your stay if possible, the hints he shared helped us be more independent and use our time well for subsequent days.
Good luck and have a ball!!
Jodie
Thanks Jodi,
We will be in Rome for three nights, arriving from Florence on the morning of October 1. I will definitely check Ron's availability for that day or the following day.
We had the most FANTASTIC guide in Rome for a tour of the Vatican in June.

Alessandra Mazzoccoli.
She helped me with many other questions prior to my first trip to Rome. We had a private tour, and it was the highlight of our trip!
We will be in Rome - February and am thinking to get a guide as well - what Ron in Rome expensive? We will be 3 adults.
I think he charges 125 Euro for a couple and 150 for more than 2, don't remember exactly, but he didn't seem to cut any corners, picked us up at our hotel at 9 sharp and we were at it until 5-6. We never felt like he was "rushing us out the door". It felt like he wanted us to get what we wanted from him. Just a nice guy. I think his prices are listed on his website or if you email him, from his site, he'll quote you a price. He was worth every cent!
