We will be arriving on a Sunday and staying until Wed. AM. Sunday we will walk/tour on our own and I would like to know any suggestions. I want to hire a tour guide for Tuesday.

Rick's book, Venice, is good for the self-guided part of your visit, and I think he also makes recommendations of tour guides.
