Can anyone recommend a great tour company for April in Rome, Venice and Florence. We would like some tours and some independent time. We would like pre-arranged hotels and transport, some meals, but some freedom to experience the cities. Help!

LOL, I like how Steve phrased it. But I have to agree. For what you describe, assuming that your travel party is reasonably fit and capable of packing light, RS tours sound like a good fit. I've done 2 tours: 1 Rome, 1 Florence, and they were fabulous. You get a knowledgeable guide who handles the logistics for you, a few places you go in a group, and then you have independent time built in to do whatever strikes your fancy. You also can break away from the tour if you like. Roughly half of your dinners are included in the tour, the rest on your own, and there's usually some special event(s) included.
