Any suggestion to plan 9 days trip in Toscany and Umbria finishing on the seashore? Thanks
lana,
It would help to have some ideas of which areas or towns of Tuscany / Toscana you're most interested in seeing? The answer to that will have a bearing on which method(s) of transportation you use. Also, where are you flying from and does the nine days include your two flight days?
Are you happy to rent a car or not? This will have a significant influence on the advice you are given.
Umbria has no sea access, so start there and end in Tuscany. 4 or five nights in each area ; will you have a car?
Thanks for your reply. We are renting a car from FLorence and returning car there.I'd like to visit some villages or towns in southern Toscany and Umbria like Spoleto,Orvieto and end up at some Toscan Beach(any nice place?).Have difficult time to choose what to see and where to stay overnight(location).
Spoke to and Orvieto are excellent choices, I would also consider Spello and Assisi.
I have 9 full days and half day on the day of arrival. Any itinerary suggestions?
lana,
One other comment.... If you haven't driven in Italy before, there are some potentially expensive "caveats" to be aware of. If you need more information, post another note.
1 Chianti
2 Arezzo
3 Cortona
4 Orvieto
5 Montepulciano + Montalcino
6 Siena
7 San Gimignano + Volterra
8 Pisa
9 Lucca
10 Viareggio (beach)
I don't think David from Brisbane meant to change hotels every night, for example, Pisa and Lucca can be visited in one day.
Hi Ken, Can you give more info about insurance "caveats",what to expect and what can be decline
You could do it as a continuous loop (eliminating a lot of backtracking). Pack very light, and choose hotels well.
Otherwise ...
1 Via Chianti to Arezzo (3 nights)
2 Arezzo sights
3 Cortona day trip
4 To Orvieto (1 night)
5 Via Montepulciano + Montalcino to Siena (3 nights)
6 Siena sights
7 San Gimignano + Volterra day trip
8 To Lucca (2 nights)
9 Pisa day trip
10 To Viareggio and the beach
