Any news on this damage? I heard Florence was damaged, and nearby Pistoia was badly hit.

No this was March 5th, 2015. A tornado hits Bagni di Lucca, affected a number of cities. I guess maybe just wind damage left, so wondering how much Florence was affected.

Maybe all this has been taken care off, but we are deciding on a last minute trip to Italy in a week, so wanted to get feedback from someone who might be there.

I think you are overreacting. A tornado? I think it was just very windy and some trees went down.

Very windy and some hundreds of trees went down, mainly at Le Cascine park.
There were not big damages in Florence, but some places along the coast were badly hit. I understand that Forte dei Marmi is in very bad shape.

We were in Florence during this time earlier this month. Windy as heck, they couldn't serve food outside, but only found out about the damage outside town from TV the next morning.
Not to worry.
