Any suggestions as how to get from Torino to Courmayeur?
-The train appears to involve a train to train transfer, then a bus ride.
-Travelling alone, an "airport transfer" to Courmayeur is expensive
-A Bus ride with winter gear doesn't sound, well, like fun.
-or,Rent a car for 12 days and I only need it for 2.

Taking the Bus is probably the easiest option. If you have winter gear the larger items can be transported in the cargo area underneath the Bus. The trip is apparently just under four hours, which isn't too bad.
I also would choose a direct bus as the easiest method of transport, although I've enjoyed visiting the train-connection towns of Ivrea and Aosta. You're probably not visiting during Carnevale, but check it out.
When are you traveling with "winter gear"? Are you going from the airport or one of the train stations?
Is "winter gear" ski gear?
