Torino Subway

We are in Torino and will be taking the bus from Porta Susa to Milan tomorrow. Our host recommended taking the subway/metro from Porta Nuovo to Porta Susa. We’ve never used a subway before but had no trouble learning to use the trains. Will the subway be similar? We each have a carry on item and a personal item. Will luggage present a problem? I assume that we just buy a ticket, validate it and make sure we catch one headed toward Fermi?

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

The subway is generally easy everywhere but Torino’s is exceptionally modern and nice, easy to use. As you conjectured, buy a ticket, and it is validated as you pass through the turnstile. Retain the ticket as it maybe checked or you may need it to exit (I cannot remember of this is the case in Torino or not but it is elsewhere).

Phrank,
You’re correct. you’ll need to board the correct train heading toward Fermi.

According to the Metro Map, Porta Susa is only three stops from Porta Nuova.

You’ll find more detailed information (tickets, luggage limits, etc) here: Turin Metro

I like to make sure I know where I’m going, especially on day of departure;
so if you have time, you may want to take the Metro today, and figure out where the bus you’ll be taking is located.

Hope this helps : )

Edited to add...
Are you taking the bus to Milan, or to the Malpensa Airport?

BTW, if you’re traveling to Milan, you can also travel via train (Porta Nuova station to Milano Centrale)

Thank you!

We checked out the bus station when we arrived and have reviewed the Metro map for stops. I’m feeling pretty good about the process.

We’re taking the bus to Malpensa where we are being picked up by our host for the night. We fly out the next day.
