We finally leave for our trip tomorrow!! I'm so excited!!! It's my first time out of country. Thank you all who have helped over the last year getting this planned, I really appreciate it! I have copies of CC's and passport, ziplock bags, band-aids, moneybelt, carry-on bag with clothes and toiletries. I've called bank but will call again =) Does it sound like I've missed anything?
Thanks Again!!!!!

Sounds like you're in good shape. One suggestion is to tuck aspirin, Immodium, and any other over-the-counter meds you typically need into your bag. You have to get them from pharmacies in most European countries. It's easier to have what you might need with you.

Hooray for you!!! I leave Saturday, so i share your excitement. I suggest you get the phone number for the fraud division of your bank (for debit card) and your credit card. Even though you have notified them of your plans, the fraud department might still think activity is suspicious and put a hold on your card. It has happened to me. You might want to call them today just in case. Keep the number separate from your card in case your card is stolen. Have a great trip!!

Moleskin, ever-so-handy for blisters and blister prevention! It saved our trip. Even though we had great shoes, well-broken-in, and are big walkers, Venice really pounded our feet the first day.

Leslie, Sounds like you're all ready for departure. One reminder though - be "flexible" as things don't always work according to plan in Italy. I'm in Prague at the moment, and will also be heading for Italy on Tuesday. Buon Viaggio!

Addresses of friends/relatives to whom you might want to mail postcards. Get a good night's sleep tonight. If you own your home (and even if not): 1)Turn off the breaker to your water heater and turn the faucet (if yours is installed that way) 2) Turn off the in-take faucet to your washing machine (especially if your hoses are a few years old) 3) Turn the shut-off valve on your commode, or at least make sure it stops filling before you leave the house.
4) Make sure your outside garden hoses are not pressurized (shut off at the faucet) I know, anal, but we have rental properties and can tell you all sorts of you-would-not-believe-this-happened type things. Each of these suggestions take less than a minute each....we do this before every trip (actually our list is much longer, but I won't post it all, as eyes would really roll). ............and, just in case your hotels don't provide them (and many don't) pack a few ratty old washcloths that you can toss. Have great fun!! Safe travels!!

One more thing I have done is check with my health insurance carrier as to what is covered out of the country and any procedures I would need to know to get reinbursed. Each one is different and some even have numbers that you can call for doctors' names. I have never needed the info and hope never to need it, but like having it available for my peace of mind.
