How long does it take to hear from the Excavations Office at St. Peter's Basilica?
I have just emailed to ask about reservations for a Scavi Tour in May and I have a few questions. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from them? Will they give us a choice if more than one of our date requests is available? I gave them four possible dates (I read that this is a good idea) but I'm eager to make our reservations for other things and don't want to wait too long. We're a group of six and I'm seeing space for some of the tours we want to take filling up. Any info would be so helpful - thank you!

I honestly can't remember how long it took to hear back from them. But I do remember that it was in plenty of time for me to plan and book our other activities. We heard back from them way before the dates we submitted.
They selected a date for us. They are assuming that you will accept a tour on any of the dates you submit, so they just assign you a date and time. It would take way too much work to email everyone back and then wait for their responses. They will assign your date and time on one of the dates you submitted.
The tour was one of the most memorable things we did in our two different trips to Italy! You will love it!

It took about a month to hear back for me. The gave me an exact date and time.

On 12/19/2023 I emailed [email protected] for a 6/6/2024 visit. Later that same day I was given a date/time. I confirmed the booking that same day by making a payment online.
