Toll roads from Rome to Positano

Does anyone know how many toll roads we will encounter on a car ride from Rome to Positano, and then from Positano to Pompeii and from there to Fiumicino? Also, if you know approximately how much these tolls will cost and if the toll booths accept credit cards, that would be great. I'm trying to figure out how much money in euros I should be bringing for this trip. Thank you very much, Linda

Plug your routes into Via Michelin and you can find out the amount of tolls. I’ve had mixed experiences with using credit cards to pay for tolls so now I don’t bother trying to use them. Cash is king!

Also, don’t bring money. For the best exchange rates, get your euros from ATM’s in Italy.

It depends if you want to take the toll roads or not, it's faster but not mandatory. On viamichelin.com there is an "avoid tolls" option on the left of the search page. The site will show all costs for each route you pick, including gas prices and tolls.

Automatic booths accept chip&pin Credit cards; at the manned booths you should be able to use also the outdated US cards, but it's getting more and more difficult. For example in France it's impossible. Avoid the yellow lanes marked Telepass.

If you decide to take the tolled A1 and A2 motorways I think that the closest exit to Positano is Vietri sul Mare.

Since you could get there by train and ferry, I'm sure you have a good reason to drive and a reserved cheap parking in Positano.
