Toddler Carrier in Colosseum?

I know no backpacks, most purses anymore but are toddler carriers (the ones where you strap baby on your back or front) still allowed or are those considered like backpacks?

With the new rules I doubt they will allow them. I would be prepared to either have the child walk or take a stroller. They are not allow big or bulky items inside any of the sites. This started about 1.5 years ago, after some of the terror attacks in Europe.

Was it a terror attack that they reacted to? I seem to remember it was vandalism by brick stealers...

Hello again
When we had a tour of the Colosseum in 2012, we were with twin toddlers age 2. We used a toddler carrier and a stroller.
Please be advised that you will be carrying the stroller up and down many stairs. It was manageable but with a lot of effort.
As I indicated in my last response, we did use the backpack carrier but seems that they are more restrictive now. I would check it out before you arrive. Thanks Carolyn

Not at the colosseum, they have raised their security standards because of the attacks in Paris. They instituted the "no large bags" well over a year ago. I would be hesitant to show up with a child back pack because if they deny you entry you'll need to take the back pack back to your hotel because there is no place to leave it at the colosseum.
