To the airport

Ok, I've done some research on this site as far as which water route will take me to the airport. I searched Rick's archives and am still confused. Is a vaporetto able to go to the airport or is the Alilaguna the only way? I'll be staying in the San Marco area but from what I've read it's a short walk to the Alilaguna stops.
Thanks.

Ok, I was a bit confused because a route map I downloaded from the ACTV site showed two lines (Blue & Orange) running to the airport. We most likely will buy the ACTV passes for use during our two days stay. Are they good for the buses as well?

the vaporetto do not go to the airport. You can take a vaporetto to Piazzale Roma and then take a bus or land taxi to the airport.

By water, you can take Alilaguna for 13 euro each one way or a private water taxi for up to 8 people and luggage. Price for the water taxi is currently 100 euro for the trip.

Ron is right. Alilaguna is the cheapest way by water, but bus from Piazzale Roma is easy and drops you right at the airport. The Alilaguna dock is a short walk from the airport.

Bob, there are two buses that run to the airport from P le Roma.

The blue ATVO bus is a private line and is not covered by the pass. It is an express, no stops until airport. Current cost is 3 euro.

The orange ACTV bus is operated by the same folks that run the vaporetto. It will be covered by your pass, assuming you have some time left on it. This bus is a local and makes a couple of stops on the way but only takes 5-10 minutes longer, if that.

So if you wanted to use your pass, you would walk to the vaporetto stop closest to your hotel. You would board the vap going to Piazzale Roma. Get off at P le Roma and then transfer to the orange ACTV bus.

The busses will drop you off in front of the terminal.

Oh, the vaporetto/bus combo should take about an hour to get to the airport from San Marco. Slightly longer to slightly shorter depending on the time you have to wait to board either.
