To stay in Navona or Termini in Rome for June

Hi, We were planning on staying in the Termini area in June but are having second thoughts as it is very hot and we would rather be close to attractions ( colisseum, Forum, Vatican etc so we can head back to rest from the heat in the early afternoon. There will be four of us, so at times we might split into 2's and do sightseeing separately and just meet up . Would recommend another area. I look into Navona but prices is quite high even for Casa de danta Brigida w/c comes out to 250 Euro per night per room. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Agree with Laurel that June availability might be getting tight. Check out Flamini Domus Charming Suites. http://www.flaminidomus.com/ They're reasonably priced and located near Campo de Fiore.

June availability might be getting tight, but try http://www.palazzo-olivia.it. Perfect location and most units are less than Euro 200. VRBO, Venere, Trip Advisor are also possible sources for you.

On my first trip to Italy we spent 8 days in an apartment near Termini. It was the last two weeks of May. Comfortable at the beginning, hotter near June. The apartment had a kitchen, and there is a large open stall market near Termini. Tomatoes from heaven. Termini advantage is you can hop the metro in 4 directions. If I were going to Rome again, I might try to stay closer to the Pantheon. Piazza Navona and all that. Close to the Barberini metro stop. Close to the colisseum and Forum? That is a large park with 2,500 year old ruins. Vatican? Nice place to visit. Piazza Navona has alot of life. I use Kayak.com (no I don't work for them, or anyone) and they do better then 250 euros for 4 people. within a mile of the Pantheon. I enjoyed the French national cathedral in Rome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Luigi_dei_Francesi) and we went to Vecchia Roma twice, it's a nice restaurant. Good Luck!

Good instinct on your part. Expand your area to include Pantheon and Campo de' Fiori. Consider an apartment instead of a hotel. (Try vrbo.com for apartments.) Good luck.

Hi Ted, Thanks for your feedback but I am sorry ,it came a little late as I already booked the 2 BR/ 4 persons apartment early this morning. I checked a few places and they were all booked so I told myself that I can't waste time anymore .Since I booked already, I won't look back and wish I did otherwise. Now, that I got the travel Insurance, Rome accomodation then I need to plan on my itinerary for 4 & 1/2 days in Rome w/c I'll post in a separate forum. Thanks again.

Good for you on not looking back. There's plenty to look forward to. And you'll have a wonderful time no matter what neighborhood you'll be in. Where did you end up staying?

Thanks Sheron, We have never stayed in an apartment in our previous trip to Europe so this will be our first time. It is more reasonable than the hotel but we realize we lose some ammenities. there were a few post regarding the dimness of the apartment at PO so I had second thoughts at first. Anyway, we can't have it all. I find that looking for the airfare, accomodations for the different places can be stressful and tedious But once I have done that , then the fun part comes which is planning my itinerary. Still have 2 more accomodations to book then I can relax.
