To Siena From Rome: Bus or Train?

Rick's Italy guide says the bus leaves 8x/day and takes 3 hours. The train leaves almost hourly, takes 3-4 hours, and has one transfer in Florence or Chiusi.

Since it's almost the same duration, what are the pros/cons of each?

And if you liked the bus, which bus company (if that applies)?

Holly,

One "pro" for the Bus is that it drops passengers right in the main part of town. If you take the train, you'll have to take a Taxi (or whatever) up the hill from the station. I haven't checked the rates, but the Bus will probably be a bit cheaper also.

Cheers!

The express buses have more comfortable seating then the trains, in general. I would take the bus.

Holly, I took the bus in May. You will have to depart from the Tiburtina station. My trip cost E20. Seeing the green rolling hills was just magical. Sadly I noticed road signs for Laquilla, where the earthquake hit.

I took the Sena bus in 2007 from Siena to Rome and it was only five euros. You just have to buy it online and print out your ticket. I think the website is www.sena.it
