We will rent a car at the end of our stay in Venice & drive to the Dolomites for a few days. After that we will visit Lake Maggiore & then we're on to the Cinque Terre. I'm not sure whether to keep the car while in Lake Maggiore & then drive to the CT area & return it in La Spezia or return it after the Dolomites. Would a car be beneficial in Lake Maggiore or not really? I have some health problems & one of the things that I found exhausting on our last trip was all the schlepping onto & off of trains with the luggage & all the stairs in the stations, etc. My husband had to carry our luggage up/down all the stairs in the stations & onto/off all the trains due to my health issues & this was pretty tiring for him. I'm wondering if it would be more relaxing just to keep the car after the Dolomites & minimize using trains to get to Lake Maggiore & the CT. After the CT, we will be heading to Sorrento & then Rome & we will definitely use trains for that portion of the trip. Any opinions or recommendations? Thanks in advance for your input.
