To Do's -- Sardinia and Corsica

We will be visiting both islands on a cruise next month. I have done all the major cities before but never the islands. We will be porting in Cagliari while visiting Sardinia and Ajaccio in Corsica. We will have 5 or 6 hours in each city. Thoughts on the sites we should see? Don't want to do a ton of traveling out of the cities... just fun sights to see/churches/things to do in the cities themselves would be appreciated! Thanks!

For Ajaccio, just explore the city and its odd affection for Napoleon. Also be aware that Corsica is reluctantly part of France, not Italy.

I agree with Robert about just roaming around the Ajaccio. There’s a TI on Boulevard roi Jérôme. I guess the spots to visit would be Napoleon’s house, Cathedral, Place du Général De Gaulle, Place Foch (where they have a fantastic outdoor market). If you want to grab a light bite, try Produits Corses A Cassetta which is at 3 Avenue du Premier Consul, right near the Place du Général De Gaulle. There’s a little tourist train, didn’t take it, no opinion.

Càgliari is a great city. Put on a good pair of walking shoes and roam Castelo, see the Bastion de Saint Remy, the Cathedral, the towers, and the Cittadella dei Musee where you’ll find a number of museums with the Archaeological Museum being its #1 attraction. Though there’s a small Roman Amphitheater, if your time or interest is limited, skip it. The Botanical Garden is highly rated, unfortunately closed on Monday when I went for a visit.

If you want a wonderful Sardinian meal, have lunch at Sa Domu Sarda, Via Sassari 51. I love good restaurants and this was my favorite on a 10 day visit to Sardinia.
