Tirano - Roma Termini too much time

Hello

Planning my trip to Sicily for my best of tour. I will use the night train Roma - Palermo which leaves Roma at 23:00 (11:000pm). The night bevore i will be in Tirano. The check out time is 10:00 so if i take the train at 11:00 i will be in Rom around 17:00 that leaves me with almost six hours in the evening with a big suitcase to carry around. The last time i was in Rom i spend almost one hour at the baggage storage, not a good option in this case.

Any helpful thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

There are 2 daily night trains from Rome to Palermo: could you take the one at 20:30 instead of 23:00?

Or, since there is nothing to do in Tirano anyway, could you leave earlier and spend a few hours in Milan instead?
Speaking of which, there is also a Milan-Palermo night train, but it does not reach Palermo until mid-afternoon.
And don't forget food and drinks, if I remember correctly there is no dining car on Italian night trains

As much as I love rail travel, I would not like to waste a day on this trip. Time on vacation is too precious. Definitely fly.

Many hotels and stores will store your luggage for a fee. There is even an app(s) that are like an AirBnB for baggage. The one I found (but didn't end up using) is Radical. I'm seeing now there is also one called Bounce.

My bigger concern would be missing a connection or having a cancellation and getting to your expensive tour late. If it were me, I'd get to Palermo at least the night before the tour.

I would not do this for all the tea in China, or for all the pizza in Naples.

Do yourself a favor. Fly from Milan to Palermo. There are non stop flights from all 3 Milan airports (Linate, Malpensa, Bergamo).

Check RyanAir (Malpensa and Bergamo), ITA Airways (Linate), Easyjet, Albastar, WizzAir (Malpensa)

To those which recommend flying, that is a hard no i really love train travel so much.

The train at 20:30 is the best option. Somehow the app only showed the 23:00 one, after checking again suddenly it’s there. The wonders of modern technology :-( i will time it in a way that i have lunch in Milano and dinner in Rome.
