Tips or concerns for luggage storage in Florence?

We have one day in Florence, so we're dropping our rental car off and then visiting the Academia and the Uffizi. We'll store our luggage (mid-morning) for the day, and then collect it early evening before we get on the train.

I've found the link to the luggage storage company near/next to/in the train station (http://www.firenzedepositobagagli.com/)... It seems pretty simple.

Any twists, tips, or other advice from those who've used the luggage storage facility?

Thanks in advance.

I use them almost every year when i day-trip in Florence. Very nice people, safe place. All you need is your passport for them to photocopy (the law). Let them know about when you will be returning - it helps them put your things in a convenient space for easy retrieval. Couldn't be easier!

I haven't used that facility, but at some staffed facilities in rail stations, you can run into delays dropping off and/or picking up luggage. Allow plenty of time. Also verify operating hours very carefully. I wouldn't expect a mid-day closure in Florence, but best to be sure they'll be open when you want to retrieve your things.

Staffed facilities (as opposed to self-service lockers) usually charge per piece, so comsolidate as much as you can.

And of course lock any bag that can be locked.

The train station (Santa Maria Novella) has a luggage storage service, it's kinda set-up like a Fedex Office, as they can ship luggage, sell travel accessories and packaging material.

I've had no problems however, I'd recommend arriving early, as the line to check bags lengthens later in the morning and the same issue later in the afternoon. They do offer a service to bring your bags to your departing train platform (kinda like how Duty Free alcohol purchases meet you at the jet-way before departure) so, that can help avoid the lines when picking-up your bags.
