Hello! I am expecting a baby at the beginning of November. My husband and I are Catholic, and we already attended the baptism class at our home parish in Dallas. My husband and I honeymooned in Italy, and I also studied there in college, and it would be meaningful for us to have our baby baptized in Rome. Does anyone have experience planning a baptism at the Vatican? I understand I must first get permission from my home parish. I would appreciate any tips, and any insight on the experience.
Are we required to have the baby's godparent also travel to Rome? Thank you so much!
Wouldn't your parish priest be the best one to ask about this?
Hello Norma,
Yes, and I have a call into our parish priest. But I am also interested in the personal experiences of travelers. I would like to know how the experience was for their families. Thank you!
Mary hope you can work that baptism part out, I can't help there, but are you specifically looking for information on travelling and staying with a baby?
Hello! Thank you for the replies.
I am now working with my local Parish on scheduling the baptism with the Vatican. I would actually love information from people who have had their baby baptized at the Vatican..or attended a baptism at the Vatican. What things should I know? What was the experience like? And sure--any tips on Rome with a little baby would be great! I am very familiar with the city. We have a packing list made, and my husband and I are really looking forward to the trip. Thanks so much, everyone!
