We will be going to Orvieto to pick up a car and we have never been through Termini. Any words of caution? There will be three of us travelling. Do you need to have the ticket stamped prior to boarding? Any other comments would be kindly appreciated. Thanks!
Are you taking the train to Termini then renting the car there and driving to Orvieto? or dropping the car off from Orvieto at Termini?
Just be aware of your surroundings. It's a very very busy place. I've been through Termini several times and never had problems. Just keep your luggage with you at all times, don't set it down and walk away!
You MUST punch your ticket before you board a train, or you could get a fine. There are YELLOW boxes on the big stone posts at the top of every other train track, just look for these. If you are unsure how to use this to validate your ticket, stand back and watch others do it first. It's not hard. Just make sure you hear the ticket get punched, and look at it to make sure you see the printing. (it can be quite faint, and that's OK)
If you purchase your ticket at the automatic machines, you can validate your ticket right there!
The machines are so very easy to use. Touch the British flag for English and follow directions. If you make a mistake, or want to check a different time, quantity, you can start over at any time.
