Tips?

We are leaving for Italy next week and have hired a few tour guides from Rick's book. What is the customary tip? I realize a lot depends on the level of service but would like to know where to start. Thanks

You can just round up to the nearest euro. Being American, I usually give a little more, and it's usually REALLY appreciated.

Tips are not expected in Rome as everyone makes a livable wage. You are not required to tip but if you feel the need (It's totally an American thing, I know) just give a few euros.

The question looked like guide tips. The answers look like waiter tips.

It makes a difference also if the tour guide is self-employed, in which case I wouldn't tip unless he/she was absolutely amazing.
