tipping issues

This is not about restaurant tipping. Got that covered. We are staying in a villa and we are having a cook come in and cook a meal....what is the suggested tipping procedure? She prepares and cleans up, including dishes. Seven people are eating.
And while I'm asking, my wife uses a wheelchair. Airport staff swuftly moved her from gate to gate at the airport. We did not tip thm. Should we have?

Earlier this year I was obliged to use "airport assistance" (i.e. a wheelchair) due to an injury, both in Rome and in London airports. I tipped both times and my impression was that tipping was the usual drill. I was most appreciative of the help, particularly in London where we were met by friends but the "assistance" continued right into the car park and to the friends' car door.

Whoever arranged for the cook probably can suggest whether a tip is customary. You can make your own judgment whether the amount is appropriate.

As far as the cook goes, if you hired a private individual to come and cook for you then their fee should be fine. If it's a company then I would say 20ish euros is fine if the food is great and he/she does a thorough clean-up. They will be getting paid for their time so no need for a huge tip. For the airport staff, I would probably give a small tip as well. Donna
