Tipping at medium hotel

We will be staying in Milan for just one night, at a average hotel by the train station. I am not sure if someone will take us to our room or what. If they do take us to our room, how much should the tip be? We will each have just one smallish suitcase with wheels, so it's not like we will need help with our bags. Also, assuming we don't order any room service, what other tipping situations should I know about? Thanks for any advice.

I doubt anyone will take you to your room, most average hotels have one person on the desk.
Expect to take care of yourself in most places in Europe unless you go high end,, or are obviously very old and weak looking, ( in which case I would hope someone would help you just to be nice) .

For one night at an airport hotel I doubt I would leave anything. Maybe , a euro on bedside table for maid,, but it depends if I remember. I do generally leave a euro( per person) for maid if staying more then one night, if room was cleaned properly of course.

Europe is not like States,, tipping is generally much less important then your manners .

We tip a Euro per bag - now that I think about it, I think that's the only tip I have ever left in Italy (!)
