Does anyone know what is proper to tip in Italy for help with luggage, etc?

We don't typically stay in places with bell service. The couple of times we have - we do one Euro per bag.

Yes I usually do tip for bags and tend to use the 1 Euro per bag rule too.

having just returned from italy today, every taxi cab driver changed us 1 euro for each bag. our last driver from the termini to linate didn't charge for the bags.
