Tip private driver

I am on a two week long tour of Sicily. I have hired a private driver who is driving us for the entire two weeks. What would be a good amount to tip him.

Maybe 5% of the total bill. Italian taxi drivers do not expect a tip, but when you have a special service like you have, it seems appropriate to show your gratitude, if indeed you are happy with the service.

Why should you pay more than the agreed price? Driving people around is his (her) job, happy or not you have nothing to be grateful about.

You should ask for a discount since you hired him for 2 weeks, I can't imagine how expensive it must be.

My husband and I are interested in hiring a private driver. Can you please provide me his contact info?
Have you taken the trip, if so were you satisfied? Any information you can forward is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

We used https://www.newtravelservices.net/. They helped us with an itinerary and were very responsive before we traveled.

The trip went great and we really enjoyed it. The only bad part was that it rained at least part of every day we were there.

I highly recommend them

Or do as Dario suggested and ask for a discount?

I did tip because our driver was very helpful. He really went out of his way for us. One example was that we travel with an autistic daughter and planned to take a boat tour in Taormina. The driver dropped us off at the boat and my daughter was reluctant to get on since she was scared of walking on the gang plank to get on the boat.

I spent 10 minutes coaxing her but she wouldn't budge. The driver saw all this from the car, parked and got out. He helped me pick her up and carry her on the boat. He really went above and beyond.

My daughter loved the boat ride, by the way, once she got on and didn't have to walk down a plank over the water.

Thank you for the information.

Looks like a really great resource.
Hopefully we will enjoy our trip too!
