Timing of Trains

Hello, I’m planning to purchase train tickets next week for an overnight train from Paris to Milan through Thello’s website. It says that the train arrives at Milan Centrale at 0600. From there, we will be traveling to Florence. The train tickets that I’m looking to purchase from Trenitalia have a train leaving at 0623. My question is, is this enough time to get from our arriving train to our departing train or are we safer just buying the tickets for the 0715 train? We don’t have a lot of luggage with us, just backpack style luggage. I guess my main concern is if our arriving train is late. Thank you.

It should be and if you miss the train because it is late, then you can exchange the ticket for the later train even if it is a discount ticket. For me, I probably would book the 0715 simply because of the extra time. Probably want to use a restroom that is not moving and maybe a coffee and pasty in the station. And a little more time to find the next trip. Is an extra 45 mins going to make that much different at the other end?

The 7:15 sounds like the way to go for the exact reasons above. Train stations are good places to pick breakfast and snacks for the trip.

I agree with Frank and Tim. Although I don't have any specific news of delays expected for the night train, I believe there have been construction-related timing adjustments on this route. Daytime train tickets are not currently for sale, until their schedule is more firm.

You don't have to buy the tickets in advance if you are worried you won't make it on time. There are many trains headed from Milan to Florence every day, and it's highly unlikely that the trains would be sold out.

Thank you for all your replies. After talking with my family, I think we'll be purchasing the 0715 tickets. As you guys said, it gives us some safety time between trains and allows us to grab a bite to eat. Thank you again for you input and help.
