I hope to get a gardens tour for Weds 5/16 at 9:30/10am. We have tix for the Scavi at 1:15 that day. My question: we want to see Pinacoteca and Faberge collection on Weds. Should we try to do it between or after Scavi. I assume after Scavi since we can stay until 6pm. Can we leave the Vatican after we tour the gardens to go to lunch and come back for Scavi? Other suggestions? We plan to do the night tour on 5/18.

After your garden tour you can go into the museums. It's part of the ticket. You won't have a lot of time to spend in the museums before reporting for your scavi tour but you may have enough time to see what you want. Be sure to check in at least 15 minutes early and check all your bags before checking in for the scavi tour. Once you exit the museums to get to your scavi tour you won't be able to re-enter without repaying. You can enter the basilica after the tour but not the museums. I am assuming by "night tour" you're talking about the nights at the Vatican museums. Donna
