With the surge in travel I am worried about our upcoming trip to Italy in September. We are hoping to visit the popular sites such as the Colosseum, the Vatican Museum, Pompeii, Florence (David and Duomo). I am not familiar with the timed entry ticket process and wondering if there are long line ups with time entry and if so if those can be avoided by using tour guides. I realize you can’t skip security line ups, I am wondering about the ticket and admission process at the popular sites and if tour guides help get through that.
That is one reason I take RS tours now - entry into sites.
Timed entries largely eliminate long waiting lines as the only people who are supposed to be in the entry/security line with you are the others who have tickets for the same time slot as you do. You will usually be told to arrive no more then ___ minutes ahead of your appointed slot, and not to arrive more than ___minutes late. No need to book a guided tour unless you WANT a guided tour.
