time in siena and cinque terre

I have 5 days between rome and florence in october. I want to go to cinque terre, but thought 5 days might be too long. I thought of going to siena for 1 or 2 days. Any ideas?

"...but thought 5 days in the CT might be too long."

Most travelers who post here seem to spend about 2 to 3 days in the CT; very few seem to spend 5 days there. Of course, this is a matter of personal preference and 5 days might be perfect for some.

If you spend time in Siena, suggest you spend at least 1 overnight and include at least one full day there (or a 2nd day, if time permits).

Sue - Kent is spot on with his post - Two or three days in Cinque Terre followed by a couple of days in the Siena region, giving you time perhaps to see San Gimignano and Volterra as well!
In Cinque Terre I would suggest -

Located directly on The Harbor in Vernazza - A great base of operations. Be sure to walk the Via dell'Amore section of the trail from Manarola to Riomaggiore. Relatively flat and paved - about a mile long, with a cafe halfway for a cold one!!
In The Siena area I would suggest -

My friends Berta and her husband have a Great B&B , just outside of San Gimignano and close to Siena and Volterra.
