Time in Naples

We have one night booked at the Naples airport, leaving the following day for home. Would it make sense after dropping off our luggage to take the 15 min direct bus from the airport and spend some time in Naples? Maybe take the hop off hop on bus in Naples? Would this be the best way to spend our time? I want easy and simple, not up for too much running after our 2 weeks in Amalfi, yet hate to miss Naples when we're so close.

Best advice is to cancel that hotel and stay in the city--it is only a 15 minute cab ride even if your flight is at the crack of dawn (especially so then because there is no traffic).
I stayed at Hotel Piazza Bellini, had lunch, went to archaeological museum, walked around centro historico, enjoyed a jazz bar, and dinner, then an impromptu local fireworks display was visible from my terrace--a lovely one day in Naples!

We also stayed at Hotel Piazza Bellini and enjoyed it very much. Its a lovely hotel with great staff and wonderful breakfast. It is about a 5-7 minute walk from the metro (Dante). From the airport, I took a bus to Naples Centrale and then the metro. Super easy.

I'm not a huge fan of HOHO. There is much to do in walkable distance from Piazza Bellini. I would grab a RS guidebook and use the walking tour or visit some of the sights listed.

Naples is great, we were there 4 nights.

Take a funicular to reach Castel Sant’Elmo where you’ll have a great panoramic view of the city, Isle of Capri, Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.

There's a Metro station very near the wonderful Archaeological Museum. The Capella Sansevero, with "The Veiled Christ" sculpture, is walkable (downhill) from the Archaeological Museum. Tickets for the Capella sell out well in advance.

Naples is a very interesting city. I'd certainly take advantage of this opportunity to see a bit of it.

When will you be in Naples? We were there at the beginning of February and were able to get tickets to Capella Sansevero about an hour in advance. We did note that there was a stand by line (that didn't seem to move much at all). The Veiled Christ was lovely, but there is a whole lot more in the chapel. There were some other really incredible sculptures. We used the RSguidebook tour for information on all the sculptures and information on building of the chapel. Make sure to look at the floors for "Escher esque" tilework.
