Time in Dolomites between Genoa and Venice

The transport routes from Google indicate no routes available on most destinations in the Dolomites or Lakes Region heading from Genova (area). We'd like a couple nights in the mountains before Venice, but will be using bus or train. Advice? Grazie.

To get to either the Lakes or the Dolomites from Genoa, you need to travel first to Milan. It is a short train ride from there to Lago di Come, either Como town or the charming Varenna farther up the lake, You would need to return to Milan to continue on to Venice. . . . . The Dolomites are a bit farther, but not so much if you are heading to Venice afterward. From Milan, you would take the train to Bolzano (with a change of trains at Verona), then bus from Bolzano to Castelrotto, Val Gardena, or Seis for the cablecar up to Al[e di Siusi. To get to Venice, you would return to Bolzano and ride the train back to Verona, changing there for Venice. It is 3 to 3.5 hours from Bolzano to Venice by train.
