Hi all, I am posting this under Italy but it involves France as well. We have booked two RS tours with a week in between the two. The first is Village Italy which ends in Lake Orta. The second one begins in Chartres France 7 days later. We would like to find some place to visit but relax in between the two and are open to any and all suggestions as to where to do so. It really doesn't matter which country. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Could you add which month? Switzerland is an obvious stop, but specific recommendations can be season-dependent.
I would look at the Lake Geneva area and Lyon, which should have good transport connections via Milan.
Things to ponder: Do you want to extend the Italy time or leave from Orta?

Time frame is late April to second week in May. I think we would want to leave Orta. Will look into Switzerland.

In between those locations, by train, we have stayed in Torino, Lake Annecy, Lyon & Paris. We liked all of them.
Since you will be staying in smaller towns in the Village Italy & also the Loire Valley & south until you get to Nice, I would recommend going to a larger city for some contrast.
