Time frame to purchase Traintalia tickets Rome to Naples - Questions

When should tickets for Rome to Naples be purchased? We are traveling August 31st, 4 adults.

Also, I see there are changeable vs not. What type of ticket is considered first class or business class?

In the diagram it looks like the seats face each other with a table in between. It is hard to tell if all seats are facing the same direction or do they face each other? Is that for all classes of seating? I would like to face each other.

Thank you!

If you are sure of your dates and time you can purchase your tickets now if you like. Purchasing in advance can save some money.
This discounted tickets may sell out. If you wait til close to your date you will probably be paying Base Rate- no discount- that price never changes

There are various restrictions on all different kinds of ticket-so you have to read the info provided on each offering.
When you pick your reserved seats (required on all fast trains) you will see the seating diagram that shows which way the seats are facing. If there is a table then the 2 seats on either side face the table and each other.
We've never found the need for first class or business class. That journey is less than 2 hours. The trains are clean, comfortable and the standard seats have always been fine for us. YMMV

Station names:
Napoli Centrale
Roma Termini

Just echoing this thought; it's a short enough journey - 1 hour, 10 minutes or so by fastest Trenitalia or Italo trains - not to warrant spending more $ for 1st or business class or even having to face each other. 2nd class carriages are perfectly safe and comfortable - way more comfortable than coach seats in a plane - or have been for us, anyway.

Quite a bit of info about trains were offered up on your previous threads so hope you're almost all set for a great trip! :O)

Italo has some great deals for train travel right now. There are some time slots on their site that have tickets as low as 16 euros per person (groups of 3 or more). These are locked in tickets but they're really cheap. You won't have group seating but again, it's only an hour and a quarter of time on the train.
