Has anyone traveled from Lake Orta to Milan (city center hotel) and what is the timing and best method/how many train connections would be required? Not in favor of $120 US for a taxi, but wondering if trains, etc. take too long.
Train seems convenient and inexpensive. Check this out at Rome to Rio.
Hi,
I assume you are taking the Village Italy tour which ends in Lake Orta? There was a previous feed on this site that gave all sorts of options from people who had been on the Village Italy tour - some recommended the train, but others have banded together to take taxis/vans back to Milan, thereby reducing the cost. I don't know if the if the feed is still active - you can also contact Rick Steve tours (if you are planning a tour) and they can give you options. I will be on that tour starting 6/26 - 7/9/17 - I plan to get together with other tour members to arrange transportation back to Milan. Have fun!

If it is after June 10, use a date next week for the same day of the week. Schedule should not change too much.
Use Orta-Miasino and Milano (tutti stazione) as the start and stop points.
