I am planning our train connections from Orvieto to Naples. It looks like the train from Orvieto gets in to Roma Termini at 12:48. If we book the frecce train to Naples that leaves at 13:05 is that too tight a switch? Should we book the 13:50 instead? I have no concept of how far the tracks are from each other. Or if the regional trains keep t a firm schedule as the frecce trains are supposed to?
That first connection should be plenty of time at 17 minutes. Be prepared to hop off the train so you don't get stuck at the end of a line. See a Termini plan. There's also a direct InterCity train that departs Orvieto most days at 12:10 and gets to Naples at 15:30.
Assuming the train is on time, that is plenty of time. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the Italian train stations are to navigate (not like the big stations in USA). Do a Google search for termini station and then zoom in. The tracks are all next to each other right there. Super easy and quick to get from one to the other.
Thanks for the advice! We are going to go with the intercity train. Much better to enjoy the ride without changing trains.
