Time allocation help

Hi everyone,
I need some help with deciding how to divide my time between Venice, Florence and Tuscan hill towns. I have 7 full days for this (3 weeks all up in Italy, travelling Venice to Naples, I’m happy with the rest of the itinerary, but I cant decide re: the above destinations...).
I’m travelling with my 4 kids. I will not be driving, so relying on public transport and/or private driver in Tuscany. My unmissables are San Gimignano, Pienza and Montepulciano. If I had only 1 day, I would get a private driver for this. If I had 2 days I would do certaldo and san gim one day by train and bus, and Pienza/montepulciano on the other with the driver. In Florence i’m really interested in the art so I feel that 2 days would be too short.
My possible scenarios are as follows:
1) 3 days Venice, 3 days Florence, 1 day Tuscany
2) 3 days Venice, 2 days Florence, 2 days Tuscany
3) 2 days Venice, 2 days Florence, 3 days Tuscany
4) 2 days Venice, 3 days Florence, 2 days Tuscany
If you have been to these destinations, which choice would you go with?
Thanks in advance :)

When you are doing the Tuscany portion are you going to stay somewhere in Tuscany or commute from Florence? I'm leaning toward the 1st or 2nd option if you are staying in Florence. I love Venice and find that 2 days would not do it justice as you would only really have 1 full day there.

Thanks :) I was thinking of staying in Florence and do day trips. Re: Venice I am torn between 3 or 4 nights, so either 2 or 3 full days; hard to know how much is enough...

I suggest doing the Tuscany touring on day trips from Florence. Also, consider adding Siena. San Gimignano is nice, but small and we only spent a couple of hours there. Have you included Pisa?

Florence needs 3 days. If you have 2 full days in Venice, you might cram it all into that time.

You really should make a list of what you want to see and do in both Venice and Florence, this will determine how long you need for each city. It's so much better than randomly choosing a number of nights. Once you have your list of what you wish to see and do we can help you determine a good itinerary and suggest how many days you'll need per city.
