Tickets to the Colleseum have to have a time stamp or you can't get in???

Someone just returned from Italy and said that tickets to the Colleseum have to have a time stamp or you can't get it??? We intended to use our ROMA pass to get in but she seems to think that we won't be able to. She said it's a new policy as of January 1st. Has anyone been there since January 1st?

Hard to tell but what that "somebody" may have been referring to is the difference between "scheduled-entry" tickets, which are purchased for a specific entry time on a specific day, and an "open" ticket. "Open" tickets can be used on any day the Colosseum is open but not for entry before 2:00 PM.

The 2:00 PM "open" ticket restriction when into effect for tickets purchased on or after June 1.

I saw that on the website, but I wasn’t sure if the Roma Pass would be considered an “open” ticket and if we need to somehow reserve a time.

The terms of the romapass have not changed, you can still use it at any time. This may change at any time but as of right now it's still valid with no time restrictions.

I'm not sure what your friend was referring to. They didn't come out with the timed entry tickets until March and the "open" tickets only became valid after 2pm at the beginning of this month.

I really appreciate your help. I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just gonna get the ROMA pass when I get to the train station! Thanks so much!
