Tickets to See David in Florence

Where is the best place to buy tickets before going to Florence to the Galleria of Accademia to see the Statue of David?
Thanks

You should probably make a reservation for a timed entrance. It adds another 4 euro. If you are going to do other sites, you could look at the Firenze card. It's pricey, but it makes sense for SOME people.

Buy the tickets online for the first entry into L’Accademia. Get there 20-30 minutes early and just wait so you will be first inside and when they open the door, go straight (pass everything else) into the statue of the David and enjoy a few minutes of being almost alone with this incredibly beautiful sculpture. It will be an exceptional experience without the crowds that detract from soaking it in. You can go back to check out what you missed (not much) later.

Florence is nowadays such a mob scene, I would definitely recommend buying the tickets online, and spending the extra money for a timed entrance. I walked right past very many people in a slowly moving line to pick up my ticket for a timed entrance, had a coffee, and walked over and entered the Accademia. Plan ahead and don’t spend your time in Florence standing in long lines where options exist..

The sculpture is so beautiful, that even the crowds cannot detract from it. I had seen it in 2003, but when I returned in 2015, I found at the first glance that there were tears streaming down my face. Music has affected me in this way before, but not the plastic arts.

Last week I was actually able to make a reservation in person a couple hours in advance for a same day visit. I'm not sure if that's always feasible but it worked for me!
